About Angola LNG
The plant, located in Angola on the Congo River delta, will have the capacity to produce 5.2million metric tons per year of LNG and will be exported primarily to a regasification terminal in Mississippi. The project is the largest single investment ever made in Angola.
Our customer had to make a modification to their blowdown line several months before the plant start up. Due to the short lead time in which the valves would have to be manufactured (less than 12 weeks), the AML suppliers were unable to assist.
PJV worked with our customer to provide an option that met their delivery requirements and ensured that the project's technical and quality requirements were also satisfied.
Initially we supplied supporting documentation to prove the integrity of the valves that we were offering including reference lists, GA drawings, procedures and type test certificates. In addition we offered to manufacture 10% of the valves early so that the cryogenic gas test could be witnessed by both our customer and Angola LNG.
Through PJV's knowledge of the project specifications and our strong, specialist supply base, we were able to offer a very quick turnaround on our quotation, in addition to providing project-specific drawings and cryogenic testing procedures before an order was placed. This enabled the project engineering team to rapidly evaluate and approve our quotation and reduce the time involved in the procurement process.
The range of valves that we supplied included floating and trunnion mounted ball valves, in both side and top entry design, and globe and check valves. All of the valves were cryogenically tested to -196 Deg C in accordance with the Angola LNG specifications.
All valves were built, cryogenically tested and witness-inspected within an 8 week lead-time. The successful witness test meant that our valve brand was approved by the project, allowing the project modification to move ahead on schedule.
