Project background
The Abigail Joseph FPSO was an FPSO redeployment project, which was delivered in a record seven months by Yinson and the Keppel shipyard. The FPSO has a processing capacity of 50,000 BPD Oil and 60,000 BPD Liquids. It also has a gas injection capacity of 39 million standard cubic feet per day and a storage capacity of 870,000 barrels of oil. It is designed for 15 years of operations without dry docking.
Scope of supply
We worked closely with the project engineering team before the vessel had been selected to make sure that we could plan our valve manufacturing and supply around the project’s fast-track timetable. We explored various models with the vessel operators to de-risk delivery – including pre-purchase of raw materials to reduce our lead times. We manufactured the majority of the valves for the newly manufactured riser balconies on the vessel and various process system upgrades.
Outcome
The late change of donor vessel meant that there was a change in the valve scope and subsequently the raw material needed to satisfy the project changed. Despite these changes, we were able to provide strong deliveries for the scope changes based on our project-specific raw material stock. We worked in very close partnership with the customer – building on extensive previous supply to the same operator – and were able to leverage lessons learned to support a very successful project outcome.
We applied lessons learned from this project immediately onto another project for the same client.
